Global Students for Climate Justice
Funded by the CPGH, Global Students for Climate Justice is a growing youth movement committed to bold and equitable climate solutions. We strive to mobilize students worldwide in alignment with the ICJ’s call for urgent climate action.
REAL PROGRESS DEMANDS CHANGE.
The Secretary General of the United Nations has stated that “we are on a highway to climate hell with our foot […] on the accelerator” (António Guterres, 2022). In spite of strong UN leadership, countries for the most part have been unable to meet the pledges they have made with regards to ambitious climate action.
In order to address this issue, we’re calling for an independent environmental summit where agreements pass with a 2/3 majority vote. This summit would support the COP process, but would be independent from it. United Nations involvement would remain critical.

Additionally, we are pushing for stronger follow-through on existing environmental initiatives. Specifically, we’re calling for legally binding commitments on voluntary initiatives such as:
- The Global Methane Pledge, an agreement to reduce methane emissions by thirty percent by 2030;
- The 30x30 Initiative, by which nations aim to protect thirty percent of land and thirty percent of the ocean by 2030;
- Various pledges made through the Paris Agreement.
Promises and goodwill are no longer enough. It’s time we apply collective pressure for justice, accountability, and REAL RESULTS - we hope you’ll join us!
