Planet Championships

Planet Championships is a social media app for the environment. The app will invite individuals and businesses to create sustainability profiles that others can see on their homepage.  Individuals will have ten categories, and businesses will have seven.

For each of the categories, individuals and businesses will receive gold, silver, or bronze level awards depending on their commitments. These awards will also have a numerical value; 5 for Gold, 3 for Silver, and 1 for Bronze. This will allow for actual competitions to occur. For example, countries would be able to compete on a variety of sustainability challenges. The app will have the ability to create challenges through notifications for everyone who has downloaded the app. Climate experts agree that we need a far greater number of individuals and businesses actively engaged in the environmental crisis we are facing.

The app will focus on three interrelated environmental crises: Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss, and Pollution. There will be opportunities to address other sustainable development goals through challenges that take place in the future. Our long term vision is to connect countries to this application as well, so individuals and businesses can follow their country’s progress on Paris commitments. Currently, we will enable individuals and businesses to connect to climate action tracker to view their government’s progress.

In the future, we envision the creation of a team model for individuals, businesses, and countries. We have divided nations into twenty teams, with each team having a member of a G20 country attached. This would bring together developing and developed countries to collaborate and compete on important sustainability measures. For example, developed countries should support developing countries to eradicate poverty and empower girls and women. This will give us the best chance of stabilizing the global population within the coming decades.
